Extremely helpful and friendly staff. You may pay slightly more than the big box suppliers, but the service and knowledge of the staff would be very hard to beat. Definitely beats wandering around a big box supplier trying to find someone to help you.
Every time I come here, I wonder why I bother with the big chains. They have everything I need, with far better customer service and extremely knowledgeable staff that will take the extra time you need to help you get your project done right. They've helped me with everything from small fix-it projects to building a box car go kart with my son. You can buy individual screws for that home project instead of a box of 50, so it's cheaper handling those one time projects . I am in and out far faster than when going to the big chains. Plus, I love supporting the local store.
I am very disappointed. Yesterday I went to this store. They were having a sidewalk sale. Everything was marked down to $1, $3, $5, or $10. I picked up a few items to buy. When checking out, the cashier would not give me a receipt, stating that since it was clearance, it was not returnable. When I got home and inspected my merchandise, most of the items I bought were totally unusable. For example, I bought self-adhesive felt pads, that I was going to stick to the underside of the chair legs to keep them from scraping on the ground. The pads were so old and dried up, that the self-adhesive part was not sticky and was cracking. I could not use them for their intended purpose. And this is not the type of item that you would open up the packaging to inspect for a problem like this. I believe the store knew that alot of these items were so old that they were not usable, and the store was just trying to unload them and get whatever they could for them. They had to know, because only the store knows how old they are, and I'm sure if they had sold on a returnable basis, they would have these returned. This is fraud - by failing to disclose what they knew, in order to get me to pay money for something I would not buy, if I knew the truth. Shame on you Mr. Allred.
The employees are helpful and knowledgeable. One year later: They are still great. They pack a lot of things into that store. It sure beats wandering around Home Depot or Lowes looking for help and then looking for what you'll need. Save yourself the time and hassle by shopping here instead. The employees know what they are talking about or will find someone who does. They don't just make a guess and send you on your way.
